Summary
Catherine Money is one of the world's leading experts in the field of leather production. Her extensive research has been directed towards the minimisation of waste and maximisation of efficiency in the tanning industry, and the development of less environmentally-damaging processing methods. Much of her research required visiting meatworks and tanneries across Australia. The processes she developed have been widely used in Australia and overseas for over 40 years. Money worked within the CSIRO's Leather Research Centre from 1966 until its closure in 2005, after which she established herself as an independent consultant to the leather industry.
