Summary

Lan Trieu Lam is an engineer who is an expert in improving the efficiency of lead-acid batteries. As a Senior Research Scientist in the CSIRO Division of Energy Technology, he led the development of UltraBattery™, a highly efficient hybrid battery combining a supercapacitor and a lead-acid battery. In 2009 Lam became Senior Principal Research Scientist in the Energy Storage Theme of the CSIRO Division of Energy Technology.

Details

Lam was awarded the following CSIRO medals:

2000 - CSIRO Chairman's Medal for Science and Engineering Excellence as a member of the of the Low Emission Vehicle Team, for the development of complete power-trains for two low-emission car projects;

2008 - CSIRO Medal for Research Achievement (with colleagues) for innovative research resulting in the invention and development of the UltraBattery - an advanced hybrid energy storage device for automotive and renewable storage applications.
