Summary
Evan Stanley trained in geology at the University of Adelaide. He was the first Government Geologist for Papua, 1911-1924. As well as conducting investigations into the regional geology, mineral deposits and indications of petroleum in Papua, Stanley was also involved in the Commonwealth Scientific Expedition to New Guinea in 1920-1922.
