Summary
Robert Russell operated the Kirkcaldy Foundry and Engineering Works with his brother, Alexander. When his sons were old enough to enter the business, he established the Phoenix Foundry and Engineering Works. The family migrated to Van Diemen's Land in 1832 and established a general engineering and foundry business, moving to Sydney to establish a similar business in 1838.
