Summary
Robert Lewis and Evan Rowlands began manufacturing soft drinks in Ballarat in 1854, the only people using machinery at the time. They opened a factory in Ballarat in 1870 and in Melbourne in 1873. Lewis retired in 1876.
At the time of his death he was chairman of the Gas Company, and a member of the City Council.
