Summary
R. A. Holloway was chiefly responsible for the innovative technology involved in the first truly Australian railcar, the 42 ft Rail Motor Car, introduced into New South Wales late in 1923. It had a number of features directed at achieving lightness while preserving traditional railway durability and weighed 2.1 tons.
