Summary
Loy Yang A is a 2000 MW brown coal power station located outside Traralgon in the Latrobe Valley of Victoria. It was commissioned by the government owned State Electricity Commission of Victoria (SECV) in the 1980s. It is the largest single brown coal-powered station in the state. In 2004 Loy Yang A power station was bought by the Great Energy Alliance Corporation (GEAC) which was made up of the Australian Gas Light Company (AGL), the Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) and a group of Commonwealth Bank led investors.
