Summary
In August 1953 the Senate approved the Constitution of the Nuclear Research Foundation. The Foundation commenced operations in 1954 within the University of Sydney and became the 1st of its type in the British Commonwealth. Its first priority was to build SILLIAC - second electronic computer in Australia. In 1967 the Nuclear Research Foundation became known as the Science Foundation for Physics.
