Summary
Nobel Industries Ltd was established in Ardeer, (Scotland) by the founder of the Nobel Prize, Alfred Nobel. It started out as Nobel Enterprises which owned Nobel Explosives Ltd. and in 1918 it, Sunbeam Bicycles, King's Norton Metal Company and a group of arms manufacturers merged to become Nobel Industries Ltd. Then in 1926 it merged with the major chemical manufacturer Brunner, Mond & Co., Ltd. This new merger was the genesis of the highly successful company Imperial Chemical industry (ICI). In 1998 Nobel Enterprises became independent of ICI, but in 2000 Inabata & Co., Ltd. bought it out.
