Summary
Mount Newman Mining Co. Pty Ltd mined iron ore in Western Australia until 1992 when the company was bought out by BHP Billiton Group. The company also made major contributions to iron ore railway operations. They do-developed the technique of asymmetrical rail profile grinding which ensured better wheel and rail interface. It became an accepted practice throughout much of the world.
