Summary
The Melbourne Milk Supply Company was the first in Victoria (1882) to use a mechanical milk separator which enabled them to pioneer butter-making in the region. On 4 September 1882 they began to produce sweetened condensed milk, but this venture failed. In 1886 the factory turned to concentrated milk production, but that too failed.
