Summary
Jones Scott & Co established a factory in Deer Park, Victoria which began operations in May 1876. It became the leading producer of explosives in Australia, and was major boost to the mining and quarrying industries. Having gone through many name changes and purchases, the company is a forebear of ICI Australia, now Orica.
