Summary

Formed in 1944 by the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), the Mathematical Statistics Section was previously the CSIR Biometrics Section (1941-1944). It was granted divisional status in 1954, becoming the CSIRO Division of Mathematical Statistics.
