Summary

The Department of Communications and the Arts was established on 30 January 1994, replacing the Department of Communications and the Department of Arts and Administrative Services. On October 21 1998 the Department became the Department of Communications, Information technology and the Arts, with matters relating to building heritage being handled by the Department of Environment and Heritage.
