Summary
Thomas Baker was Australia's first successful manufacturer of dry plates for photography. The establishment of the Thomas Baker and Company Laboratory in 1887 came about when Bake formed a partnership with the accountant John Joseph Rouse. The company changed its name to Baker and Rouse Australia Laboratory in 1894.
