Summary

Glaxo Australia was established in the early 1970s when it replaced Glaxo-Allenbury's (Aust) Pty Ltd. The company manufactured pharmaceuticals, antibiotics, infant and invalid food, surgical equipment and hospital furniture, fine chemicals and laboratory chemicals. In the 1990s the company's focus was manufacturing pharmaceuticals and chemicals. Glaxo Australia Pty Ltd became Glaxo Wellcome Australia Ltd in the late 1990s and is now known as GlaxoSmithKline Australia.
