Summary

Tony Guttmann is widely recognised for his expertise in equilibrium statistical mechanics, especially discrete models of phase transitions and related combinatorial problems, and algorithmic complexity. With his extensive collaborations, including internationally, he has influenced many areas on mathematics and mathematical physics. For nearly 20 years Guttmann was Professor of Mathematics at the University of Melbourne. He was founding Director of both the Australian Mathematical Science Institute and the ARC Centre of Excellence for Mathematics and Statistics of Complex Systems (MASCOS). Guttmann has received numerous awards recognising his research excellence.
