Summary

The Royal Society of Victoria Medal for Excellence in Scientific Research was inaugurated by the Society in 1959, the year of its centenary. Awarded annually, the Medal recognises excellence and leadership in research for work that has been carried out in Australia, with preference for work that was done in, or relates to, Victoria. It is awarded in four categories by rotation: Biological Sciences (non-human); Biomedical and Health Sciences; Earth Sciences; and Physical Sciences.
