Summary

Roy William Newton was a founding director and managing director of Die Casters Pty. Ltd. that designed, patented and manufactured a wide range of hardware, including automobile hardware. During the war Newton was instrumental in the company's conversion to war production, and was the inventor of the Austen sub-machine gun, the Australian version of the British Sten gun. After the war the company commenced production of overhead spray irrigation systems. He was also a founding director of D. C. Plastics Pty. Ltd. (1939 -)
