Summary

Percy Webster was a surgeon and ophthalmologist who earned his qualifications at the Medical School of the London Hospital. He worked at the Hospital as Resident Medical Officer and later house surgeon. Suffering from chronic otitis, he migrated to Victoria in 1891. He joined the staff of the Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital as resident surgeon, later being an honorary assistant surgeon. At the same time he established a private practice in which he was associated with James Barrett. Elected to the permanent staff of the Hospital, he served for over 30 years. Webster played a key role in the foundation of the Ophthamological Society of Melbourne in 1899, holding office as President in 1905.
