Summary

The Irrigation Act, 1912 (Act No. 73 1912) repealed the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Act, 1910 (Act No.42 1910) and replaced the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Trust with a Commissioner for Water Conservation and Irrigation.

Mr L.A.B Wade, formerly Chief Engineer for Irrigation, Department of Public Works, was appointed as Commissioner from 1 January 1913. Mr H.H Dare, formerly Chief Engineer for National Works and Drainage of the Public Works Department, was appointed as Chief Engineer of the Commission. Forty other officers of the Department of Public Works were also transferred to the staff of the Commissioner for Water Conservation and Irrigation.
