Summary

The Selwyn Medal has been awarded annually since 1996 by the Victorian Division of the Geological Society of Australia. It recognises significant ongoing or former contributions of high calibre to any field of Victorian geology. The medal commemorates Alfred Selwyn, one of the leading scientists in nineteenth century Victoria and the first Director of the Geological Survey of Victoria from 1855 to 1869.
