Summary
The Menzies School of Health Research is one of Australia's leading medical research institutes, and a global leader in investigation of life-threatening diseases such as tuberculosis. It is dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, particularly relating to child health and development, nutrition, chronic diseases, substance abuse and mental health. Partnerships have been forged with over 60 remote communities across northern Australia , and with other research facilities in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region. The School was established in 1985 by the Northern Territory Government. In 2004 it became a School within the Institute of Advanced Studies in the Charles Darwin University.
