Summary
Danuta Khihinicki was an acarologist whose main focus was on mites in the superfamily Eriophyoidea, particularly their taxonomy. Having joined the Biological and Chemical Research Institute of the New South Wales Department of Agriculture in 1989, from 1993 she assumed responsibility for all aspects of plant-feeding mites in relation to biosecurity, agriculture, and horticulture across New South Wales. For her masters degree Khihinicki undertook the first study of eriophyoid mites affecting commercially important Melaleuca species. She published over 25 scientific papers.
