Summary
Brian Morris is a molecular biologist whose main research has been on the renin-angiotensis system which is fundamental to the control of blood pressure and fluid volume. He helped pioneer the field of molecular genetics of hypertension and extended his into the genomics of aging and longevity. In 1987 he patented internationally a test for the detection of the human papilloma virus (HPV) which is now widely used for cervical screening. Morris has been a vocal public health advocate. Between 1999 and 2013 he was Professor of Molecular Medical Sciences at the University of Sydney.
