Summary
Alexander Isaev was influential as a researcher in the classification of complex spaces according to their symmetries. His work in complex analysis resulted in a number of important research texts including Lectures on the automorphism groups of the Kobayashi-Hyperbolic manifolds (2007) and Spherical tube hypersurfaces (2011). For nearly 30 years Isaev taught at the Mathematical Sciences Institute, Australian National University, where he was Professor from 2014 to 2019. He established the course in bioinformatics, producing in consequence the book Introduction to mathematical methods in bioinformatics (2004).
