Summary

The Department of the Environment was established in 1972 and was home to the State Marine Pollution Committee (1987 - ). In 1989 it was abolished and its functions transferred between the Department of Environment and Planning (1989 - 1993) and the Department of Parks, Wildlife and Heritage (1989 - 1993).
