Summary
The Western Australian Natural History Society was founded in 1891, the first such society on Western Australia. Explorer and Premier of Western Australia, John Forrest was the foundation President. Early enthusiasm, which saw the establishment of a nature reserve of several thousand acres near Pinjarra, was not sustained and the Society lapsed.
