Summary
Mark Willcox is noted as an expert on ocular microbiology, inflammation and infection, and on contact lenses. His research focuses on adhesion and biofilm formation of ocular pathogenic microbes, the development of antimicrobial surfaces, and the potential use of tear film biomarkers for the detection of diabetes and breast and prostate cancer. This research has resulted in over 400 publications and 12 patents. Willcox is Director of Research in the School of Optometry at the University of New South Wales.
