Summary
Bird Observation and Conservation Australia was an organisation of field ornithologists who were also concerned with the conservation of Australia's avifauna, continuing the work of its predecessor, the Bird Observers Club (of Australia). In 2011 the decision was taken to merge with Birds Australia to become Birdlife Australia, with effect from 1 January 2012, an acknowledgement by members of both organisations of the convergence of their interests. The journal Australian field ornithology continued to be published by Bird Observation and Conservation Australia.
