Summary
Adolphe Brongniart was a Frenchman originally trained in medicine (in 1826) who became a botanist. Brongniart described Australian and other plants collected from the French expedition "La Coquille" (1822 - 1825) to Oceania and South America. Upon his return he and wrote volume two of the expedition report focusing on spermatophyte's (then known as Phanerogams) or seed producing plants.
