Phoenix Australia was established in 1995 as the National Centre for War-Related PTSD. Originally focused exclusively on veterans and funded by the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) by 2000 the organisation, now named the Australian Centre for Posttraumatic Mental Health (ACPMH), broadened its work to include the civilian community as well as veterans. In 2015 the centre changed its name to Phoenix Australia. Phoenix Australia conducts research and provides education and treatment in relation to mental health effects of trauma.
