Summary
Mary McHard came to Western Australia as a child, living near Perth and in Fremantle, ultimately settling near Balingup in the southwest of the colony. For over 20 years she collected plants widely across this region and as far north as the Murchison River. These specimens she sent to Victorian Government Botanist Ferdinand von Mueller in Melbourne. Over 2,000 specimens are in the National Herbarium of Victoria.
