Summary
Llew Gooding was a dairy farmer in Gippsland, Victoria, with a stud herd of Australian Illawarra Shorthorn cattle. From childhood he was a keen collector of Lepidoptera and Coleoptera, amassing a collection of over 75,000 specimens. These were mainly from Gippsland but augmented by exchanges with other collectors. In his endeavours Gooding was assisted by his wife Hilda and daughter Margaret Coulson. In 1979 this collection together with Gooding's correspondence with fellow entomologists was donated to the Australian National Insect Collection.
