Summary
Anthony Alder came from a family of taxidermists and was, in addition, a talented bird painter. Having visited Queensland as a collector and taxidermist 1862-1865, he migrated to Queensland ten years later, setting up in business as a taxidermist. In 1907 he joined the staff of the Queensland Museum. He was a committed advocate for the protection of native birds.
