Summary
William Michael Doherty was Government Analyst, Office of the Director General of Public Health, New South Wales, from 1929 to 1930. He first joined the department in 1887 as assistant to the then Analyst Charles Watt. In 1915 he was promoted to Second Government Analyst and retired in September 1930. Doherty wrote important reports and articles on many varied fields including arsenic levels in coal to the analysis of the Cavendish Banana.
