Summary
Robert Vincent Blanden is Professor and Leader of the Immunology Group at the John Curtin School of Medical Research, Australian National University. He is an internationally recognised expert in cell-mediated immune responses and has made many ground breaking discoveries. In 1994 Blanden and colleagues challenged the theory of evolution by showing that changes introduced to the immune system of a mouse could be passed on to the next generation, thus concluding that this type of somatic selection could exist along side Darwin's theory of natural selection.
