Summary
Neil McRae joined the Bureau of Meteorology in September 1937 as a Meteorological Assistant, and served in the RAAF Meteorological Service, 1941-1946, returning to the Bureau after the war. He was Acting Deputy Director of the Hobart regional office in 1953-1954, before returning to Melbourne to become head of the Training and Publications Branch, introducing many innovations. Between 1962 and 1969 McRae acted as Assistant Director Research and Development on a number of occasions and was promoted to the position in October 1969. He retired in 1973.
