Leonard McColl worked for the Swan Brewery Co. Ltd 1926-1961, working successively as brewer, head brewer and superintendent brewer. On two occasions he spent several months in Europe studying breweries and brewing methods.

Born Melbourne, 27 October 1902. Died Perth, 17 December 1961. Educated University of Melbourne (Dip. Analytical Chemistry, BSc 1929). Assistant brewer, Swan Brewery Co. Ltd 1926-44, head brewer 1944-52, superintendent brewer 1952-61. Chairman, Australian section, Institute of Brewing 1957-59.
