Born Gawler, South Australia 1875. Died Mount Lawley, Western Australia 18 April 1940. Educated Gawler School of Mines (chemistry and assaying). Apprentice fitter and turner, Martin & Co., instructor in assaying and metallurgy, Gawler School of Mines, Chemist, Western Australian Government Railways 1901-40. Member, Australian Railways Committees appointed to prepare standards in connection with paints and varnish materials, lubricants and methods of testing and methods of water analysis 1921. President, Western Australian Branch, Australian Chemical Institute 1923-24, 1925-26. Gold medal for meritorious service, Western Australian Branch, Australian Chemical Institute.
