Summary

The Energy Research and Development Council was established in July 1990 as a statutory body under the Primary Industries and Energy Research and Development (PIERD) Act 1989.
It acquired the functions previously undertaken by the National Energy Research Development and Demonstration Program.
The Energy Research and Development Corporation funded renewable energy research and development.
