Summary
The Zoological and Acclimatisation Society of Victoria gained the prefix 'Royal' in 1910. The Royal Zoological and Acclimatisation Society of Victoria managed the Melbourne Zoological Gardens until 1937, when the Victorian Government assumed control of the Zoological Gardens and the Zoological Board of Victoria was established. The Society continued to exist until 1957.
