Summary
The University of Melbourne's Department of Computer Science was established in 1976, when it took the place of the Department of Information Science. The Department was originally part of the Faculty of Science. During the early 1990s, the Department of Computer Science was moved to the newly created School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, within the Faculty of Engineering. In 1999 the Department was renamed the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering.
