Summary
The K. L. Sutherland Memorial Medal was established in 1982 through the joint efforts of the Australian Industrial Research Group [also known as the Australian Innovation Research Group], the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, and the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences (and Engineering). It commemorates the exceptional contributions of Keith Sutherland to industry and research, and to scientific organisations as varied as the Australian Museum and the Australian and New Zealand Association for the Advancement of Science. Awarded biennially, the Medal recognises outstanding achievement in the application of science for the benefit of the community and for technological purposes.
