Summary
In 1975, Mount Royal hospital and the University of Melbourne established the National Research Institute of Gerontology and Geriatric Medicine. In 1994 the name of the Institute was changed to the National Ageing Research Institute. It is the only national medical research facility in Australia to focus exclusively on the causes, care and social implications of ageing.
