Summary
Established in 1989, the Macfarlane Burnet Centre for Medical Research was Australia's largest research institute for the areas of virology and communicable diseases. At the end of the twentieth century, the Macfarlane Burnet Centre underwent a change of name, becoming the Macfarlane Burnet Institute for Medical Research and Public Health.
