Summary
The Division of Materials Science, formerly the Division of Tribophysics, was named in 1978. In 1980 part of the Division became the Division of Manufacturing Technology. The remaining Division carried on until the end of 1986, when it joined the Division of Chemical Physics, forming the Division of Materials Science and Technology.
