Abstract

The paper outlines comprehensive simulation facilities developed initially to meet the requirements of studies in which saturated reactor (SR) compensators have been a principal feature. In the SR model developed for these purposes, each winding section on each limb of the main and auxiliary core structures is represented individually together with their pronounced saturation characteristics. The paper shows how this detailed SR model is combined with a network model which earlier z-plane research has established. It refers to numerous studies in which simulation solutions have been correlated with recordings from field test in validating analysis formulations and the software system that implements them.
