- Abstract
The ability of a voltage regulating device to improve the steady state stability limit of a power system is well known, but detailed investigation is required before this ability can be fully utilized.
This paper summarizes the methods of analysis that are available for the treatment of the problem, with particular emphasis being placed upon those which are suitable for use with digital computers.
The application of these methods to a practical problem is illustrated by reference to the Victorian-Snowy-N.S.W. network. The paper discusses the validity of a reduced network in defining the stability limit, and uses the digital computer analysis to define the influence of the inertia of the receiving system.
