This paper, No.1170, originated in the Sydney Division of The Institution and was presented before a meeting of the Civil Engineering Branch of the Division, on 23rd March, 1954. The author, S. M. Abstract

The investigation and design of the strengthening and enlargement of Burrinjuck Dam was initiated in 1937 by the New South Wales Government following observations that there appeared to be excessive water movements through the wall producing a leaching effect on the cement, and because there was a great need for more stored water.
